Clean-up Barrel
The clean-up barrel is used to treat battery sands when cleaning up
the mill. All of the cleanings are placed in the clean-up barrel with
mercury and cast iron balls. As the barrel is rotated the material is
thoroughly worked and the amalgam is taken up by the mercury and
separated from the waste material. The clean-up barrel consists of an
iron barrel supported by journals resting in bearings on a wood frame.
One journal carries a loose and tight pulley, which rotate the barrel.
Our kit consists of 9 white metal castings and wood for the framing and
sluice box. The body of the clean-up barrel has 86 nuts and bolts on its
castings. |
