Cut-Off Saw
The cut-off saw kit consists of a 24" diameter saw blade on a swinging frame. It would be used in a small sawmill to trim the ends of the cut lumber to make it square and of standard length. Boards can also be cut into shorter lengths to eliminate defects and raise its grade.

Picture 1 shows the cut-off saw installed in the sawmill model. Picture 3 shows the installation of the drive pulleys for the cut-off saw. The belt material has not yet been installed. The main drive comes from the right to the large pulley. The direction of motion is changed by two bevel gears. The saw is turned on and off by a belt striker that moves the belt from a pulley fixed to the ceiling drive shaft to one that is not fixed and turns freely. This stops the motion of the saw. Extra pulleys for ceiling drive are not included in the kit but can be obtained in the pulley/bearings for sawmill set MF-115.
